Semaine Sept (7): Revue

Objectifs

1. You will show to your classmates what you have learned in French.
2. You will comment on someone's learning using SLA jargon.


Activités 

1. You will make a video in which you show the objectives you have mastered. Do not use any paper when or do not write anything since the objective is for you to show what you have actually learned.

2. Once your classmates published their videos, you will watch two of them and make a comment in which you show you are able to connect SLA theory and real world evidence. For example, you can comment about crosslinguistic influences and explain how your classmates' L1 or L2 influences the target language (French or Spanish).

3. After reading the chapter for this week on motivation and watching the videos, you will write a short reflection about the type of motivation you had when you chose to learn the target language and how it has changed during the process. Make clear connections between theory and your experience by citing.

Semaine 6: La Routine

Objectifs: This week you will

1. describe the activities that you usually do and ask someone about his/her routine.

2. use verbs that describe daily routines in the first person.

Activities
1. Daily Routines. Listen to the vocabulary. Practice and memorize it.

2. La routine. Listen and repeat. See how many words you are able to say correctly. Test your memory.

3. Une chanson to learn vocabulary. Music is commonly use to learn vocabulary. Try this song and see if it helps you remember vocabulary. Are you familiar with the original song?

4. Le quotidien. Study the vocabulary, particularly what applies to you.

5. You will make a list of ten sentences about your daily routine and ask someone who is fluent in French. You may want to do this activity with another French learners.

Vous: Je me réveille à sept heur tous les matins, et toi?

Votre ami(e): Moi? Je me réveille à cinq heur.

Devoirs: This week, you will reflect on your language learning process, particularly in how your brain has reacted to the new vocabulary, particularly the one you attempted to learn this week. You will discuss if teachers need to give students all the verb conjugations or if they should allow more interaction among learners using the first person and a simple question with "and you? (et toi?).  You may also discuss how many words you have been able to learn to say correctly in French and to use in real contexts. You should comment on weather or not you have found yourself making cheat sheets to have right in front of you while you make the videos. Have you written the script and then read it aloud? Why is that? Why do learners tend to do that? How has your memory impacted your learning process? What connections can you make to ideas discussed by scholars in the readings or videos?

You can make the reflection in writing or on a video.

Semaine Cinq (5): Parler des Goûts

Objectives: 
To speak about likes and dislikes
To ask someone about their likes formally and informally (tu vs. vous)

Activités 

Watch and study the target language presented in the videos. ''

1. Paris, ce que j'aime de Paris.

2. Exprimer goûts et préférences.

Devoirs/ homework 

This week you will make a video in which you talk about your likes, dislikes and preferences.  In this video, you will talk about your likes, particularly related to school and the activities that you do there. You may also interview a student or a co-worker using the questions using the correct level of formality according to the person you are interviewing. The video should be at least two minutes and must be published by Sunday at 11:59 P.M.

Semaine 4

Objectives 

To describe places and things
To use the right conjugation of the verb être when describing someone or something.

Activities 

Watch and study the target language in the videos

Homework: Devoirs 

This week you will study on your own, review the previous objectives and when you feel ready, you will take the quiz. The quiz is not part of your course grades. You will receive credit for taking the quiz, and then reflecting on the experience as part of your weekly participation.

Semaine Trois (3)

Objectives

To know and use correctly the subject pronouns to replace nouns in sentences and avoid repetition.
To express how you are
To conjugate the verb aller to express how it is going for you (how you are)
To talk about places we go to.


Activities

Watch and study the target language in the following videos

1. Subject Pronouns 

2. Talking about how you are (how you go or how it goes for you in French)

3. Asking how you are formally or informally

4. Conjugations of the verb aller (to go)

5. Places et le verb aller part 1

6. Places with the verb aller part 2

7. Take spelling quiz ( I will publish the answer the next).

Assignment/Devoir 

This week you will record two conversations of you with a classmate or any French speaker.  In the first one you are the one asking the questions, in the second one you answer the questions. Remember it must be a video and you must be in it and that copying from the videos or your notes and then reading aloud constitutes cheating.  

a. Greet formally or informally
b. Ask the person who she/he is doing and answer appropriately
c. Ask the person's name
d. Ask about origin
e. Ask the interlocutor to spell the name of the place
f. Ask about the location of that ville/town/city etc.
g. State where you are going and ask the interlocutor where he/she is going
h. Say good-bye

Semaine Deux (2):

This week you will be able to

Objectifs 

1. Introduce yourself according to level of formality
2. Ask and state your name, age, nationality
3. Ask and state where you live and your occupation

Assignment/ Devoirs

You will create a formal and an informal conversation with two different classmates or two different people you know who speak French. You will use the target language we studied in this unit and publish your video by next Monday at 11:59 P.M.

Semaine 1: Presentations

Objectif:

This week you are expected to identify yourself, state your name, last name, spell it, say where you are from and your occupation.
